Friendship is a unique, family-like, and lively body of believers. Often referred to as "The Ship", we are a diverse congregation who is predominately African-American and open to all races, nationalities and cultures. We are a highly motivated group of believers with a high morale and a great sense of excitement about our future. We emphatically believe our future is bright, secure and "The best is yet to come!" Friendship is a growing, thriving and busy church, with multiple ministries and opportunities for involvement. Members and visitors alike often comment, "There always seems to be a lot happening at Friendship."
This church began as a mission church planted in the early 1960s by 13 women. They asked Pastor K.D. Friend (Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church in Watts) to help them establish a church. Pastor Friend introduced Rev. James Donald Carrington to the Friendship Missionary Church in Fullerton on April 22, 1964. Rev. Carrington met with this group weekly which was now composed of 22 men and women. On May 20, 1964 the decision was made to delete "Missionary" from the name establishing Friendship Baptist Church and Rev. James Carrington as its Pastor. Friendship was officially organized on June 24, 1964 by Providence Baptist 2
Association. Rev. James Carrington said the Church would be named after Rev. K.D. Friend because he was instrumental in helping to establish Friendship Baptist Church. By the early 2000s, the initial congregation of 22 had grown to nearly 5000 members. Our current membership is approximately 2250.
In July 2013 Friendship called its second pastor in her history. On September 1st 2013, the Rev. Kenneth C. Curry, Jr. began his tenure as the new pastor of Friendship.
We invite you to come and worship with us! Friendship is an exciting, spirit-filled church. You are welcomed to visit at any time!

WHAT WE BELIEVE
Our doctrinal statement summarizes biblical truth that historically and doctrinally has been regarded as essential to the Christian faith.
We believe (a) in the plenary verbal inspiration of the Word of God, and (b) that both the Old and New Testaments are inerrant in the original writings and are the supreme and final authority for faith and life.
We believe the Godhead exists in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three Persons are one God having precisely the same nature, attributes, and perfections.
THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
We believe in (a) His eternal existence as God, (b) His Incarnation and Virgin Birth, (c) His death on the cross as the substitutionary atonement for sin, (d) His literal, bodily resurrection from the dead, (e) His present ministry of intercession in heaven, and (f) His personal, future return to earth.
THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Godhead, convicts men of sin, regenerates, baptizes, indwells, seals, and sets apart believers unto a holy life; that He keeps and empowers believers day by day; that He is the Teacher of the Word of God and the Guide for daily living.
We believe that (a) man was created innocent and pure, and (b) Adam fell through the sin of disobedience. Therefore, (c) all men are corrupted in body, soul, and spirit; and (d) all men need redemption.
We believe that (a) salvation is by grace, a free gift of God apart from works, (b) salvation involves repentance, a change of mind in respect to God and thus turning from one's own way to God's way, (c) salvation is through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, (d) all who receive Jesus Christ are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and become the children of God, and (e) true salvation will be manifested by a changed life.
We believe (a) in the personal, visible, bodily return of Jesus Christ to earth, (b) in the bodily resurrection of the just to the eternal abode in the glory of Gods presence, and (c) in the bodily resurrection of the unjust to judgment and everlasting punishment in the lake of fire.
